THE TAMPA CONNECTION
The Tampa Connection celebrates nearly 25 years of developing up and coming professionals into community leaders with a commitment to volunteerism.  Since 1984, more than 1,300 individuals representing Tampa businesses have graduated from the Tampa Connection program.  Alumni include well known philanthropists Simon Canasi and James Shimberg, Jr. as well as Betty Tribble, a staple in the field of community service in Tampa through her work with The United Way.  Each of these upstanding Tampans have also been recognized as The Tampa Connection Citizen of the Year for a lifetime of achievement in active community involvement.

Our mission is to prepare class members to become active volunteers and leaders in the Tampa Bay Community.  Our vision is to be the leadership development, community involvement and relationship development experience sought after by employers, employees and not-for-profit agencies.

Fast facts

  • Each year The Tampa Connection accepts approximately 70 up and coming business leaders from the Tampa Bay area, who are introduced to both leadership development and the importance of community service.
  • The Tampa Connection adopts several non-profit organizations each year to assist with projects which can be addressed over a period of 10 months by our class of professionals.  Project taken on include marketing needs, Board development and other business related needs the non-profit might not otherwise be able to afford.
  • More than 1,300local professionals graduated from The Tampa Connection, and many have gone on to become valued community leaders.  The Tampa Connection will graduate their 25th class of business leaders in 2010.
  • Nearly 100 non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay community have benifited from projects taken on by The Tampa Connection.
  • Throughout the 10 month class, The Tampa Connection introduces class members to aspects of our community that require involvement from the business sector to thrive, including the arts. education and local government.
